Jimmy Kimmel Returns To ABC Following Backlash Over Controversial Cancelation
Jimmy Kimmel shall be again behind the desk on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday (September 23) after ABC axed the show “indefinitely” last week following intense criticism over his remarks about conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
The community confirmed the late-night program’s return after what it described as “thoughtful conversations” with its guardian firm, Disney. The transfer comes days after the present was abruptly pulled from the air.
“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country. It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday,” an ABC spokesperson mentioned.
The controversy started after Kimmel addressed the killing of Charlie Kirk throughout his monologue final week. “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it,” he mentioned.
