At This Point I Will Just Eat Little Debbie’: Mississippi Woman Buys Grapes From Costco. Then She Takes a Closer Look at What’s Inside the Package

One Costco shopper obtained far more than she was on the lookout for within the produce aisle, and it undoubtedly wasn’t on the procuring listing. 

TikTok creator Heather Sumrall (@heartofheather) posted the now-viral video, which has pulled in over 415,000 views because it hit the app on Oct. 18.

What began as a grocery run has since was a full-blown PSA for anybody grabbing grapes at Costco or any main retailer. The clip zooms in on a bunch of inexperienced grapes, and proper there, crawling between them, is the signature pink hourglass on the shiny black physique of a giant black widow spider.

The on-screen caption tagged Costco and warned different buyers, then jokingly included, “At this point I’ll just eat a Little Debbie.”

How Often Are Spiders Hiding in Grapes?

Apparently, this isn’t something new. Black widows, that are notoriously venomous, have been displaying up in grocery retailer grapes for years. Back in 2015, a woman up in Vermont was hospitalized after one crawled out of her bag of grapes and bit her.

Every 12 months, reports pop up about wandering and huntsman spiders, often called “banana spiders,” present in retailer bananas, together with black widows hiding in bunches of grapes.

The motive is easy. Grapes make the right hiding spot for spiders. Vineyards are filled with fruit-eating bugs. Grape arbors give spiders loads of house to settle in and spin their webs.

The feedback have been a mixture of jokes, spider trauma, and straight-up nightmare gasoline.

“Donuts would never do this to you,” one individual joked.

Another warned, “Wait until you are looking through the bananas and find a huge banana spider.”

“New fear unlocked omg! [loudly crying face emoji],” somebody mentioned.

Other viewers added much more gasoline to the fireplace by displaying superior insect information.

“Hi, so they actually use black widows in a lot of vineyards to help with natural pest control,” an individual wrote. “This is like the 8th post I’ve seen in the last couple months about this.”

Another chimed in, “As a retired inspector, that’s very common.”
