Inglewood, California emcee & songwriter Domo Genesis linking again up with Graymatter for his 2nd EP. Starting in mid-2009 as a member of the now defunct Odd Future collective, he’s gone on to present us 2 studio albums accompanied by 4 mixtapes & an EP excluding the Facade Records trilogy inside the final dozen years, my private favorites of which being his debut mixtape Rolling Papers, The Alchemist-produced third mixtape No Idols, the Evidence-produced debut EP Aren’t U Glad You’re U? and sophomore effort Intros, Outros & Interludes. Doms’ final LP What You Don’t Get!? had a extra drumless sound & they give the impression of being to recapture that feeling in a World Gone Mad.
After the intro, “Weezy Face” is a jazzily drumless opener with a touch of a rock music speaking about being the underrated best whereas “Church’s Chicken” provides off an orchestral increase bap vibe speaking about having perception in half of what he’s seen. The title monitor strips the drums once more explaining that he’s precisely what he sells as a result of it’s his actual life & “Rough Diamonds” soulfully ends with Domo speaking about nonetheless drawing photos within the sand.
What You Don’t Get!? to me was a strong continuation of the drumless sound he went with on Intros, Outros & Interludes even when I nonetheless have that as my favourite solo album of the three that Domo Genesis has dropped. World Gone Mad regardless maintains the jazz components of What You Don’t Get!? apart from Graymatter sometimes venturing out in favor of chipmunk soul, increase bap or a small dosage of rap rock & Doms spitting warmth for 10 minutes.
