Porsha Williams Opens Up About Being In A Relationship With A Woman
Porsha Williams is in love, and she or he needs to inform the world about it.
On her birthday in November, Williams went Instagram official with her girlfriend, Patrice “Sway” McKinney.
Williams informed PEOPLE that she “just wanted to continue to live in my truth.”
“I’ve been in reality TV for 10-plus years, okay. But yes, this was definitely different for obvious reasons,” Williams defined.
“I didn’t want to hide any parts of me, and I felt if I did hide it. It had to be caught somewhere; it just wouldn’t feel authentic,” she continued. “I want to live in my truth, and so in doing that, I have found someone who I really enjoy getting to know, and it’s been great.”
Williams then shared what she loves most about McKinney.
“I think the best thing is when you find someone that you can see yourself in. And you guys match, and everything is comfortable, it’s warm,” Williams mentioned.
“You definitely want to be with someone warm who you can enjoy — and family,” Williams says. “So I’m very blessed.”
Williams beforehand informed PEOPLE she was planning to spend some time on her own before returning to the dating world. After a 15-month marriage to Simon Guobadia, she filed for divorce in February 2024.
“It’s lonely. I can’t connect with other men,” she mentioned. “I’m going to do it different this time. I’m going to be alone until I’m whole. And then when I’m whole, then I will open myself back up so I don’t make the same mistake again.”
At CultureCon in October, Williams shared that she was relationship a lady and a person.
“He is nice, and she is nice,” Williams mentioned.
“They’re asking me questions, they’re not letting me walk over them, they aren’t just doing whatever they need to do to get into the relationship. And so I’m not feeling safe enough to open up yet,” she informed the group.
“And so what I have to do is realize, if you want something different, you have to also be different. I have to soften up a bit,” she added.
