Walter Scott, a co-founder of The Whispers, one of many biggest R&B acts of all time, has handed. He was 81.

Desirae L. Benson, a member of the Whispers promotional crew, confirmed Scott’s passing in an announcement to Soul Tracks.

“All of us are extremely heartbroken. It’s with deep disappointment that we verify the passing of Walter Scott, beloved member of the legendary R&B group The Whispers. His voice, presence, and contributions helped form a musical legacy that touched hundreds of thousands. Walter’s impression on the business and within the hearts of followers won’t ever be forgotten. Memorial particulars will likely be shared at a later date. Sending love and lightweight to his household, pals, and the entire hundreds of thousands of followers around the globe. We misplaced a legend!“

Fashioned within the early 60s in Los Angeles,  the Whispers struggled for greater than a decade, reaching success..  Based by twin brothers Walter and Wallace (Scotty) Scott, Nicholas Caldwell, Marcus Hutson, and Leaveil Diploma (who changed departing member Gordy Harmon in 1973), the Whispers charted their first pop and R&B hit with “Appears Like I Gotta Do Unsuitable” in 1970.
